Makah Ozette Potato Harvest at the Jefferson Foundation

Last spring, Slow Food Seattle donated 15 pounds of Makah Ozette Potato seed to the Thomas Jefferson Foundation’s Center for Historic Plants. Kevin Nevison, Manager of Farm Operations, sent us the following letter with pictures of the harvest.

Hi Slow Food team,

Best of luck in the final preparations for your Slow Food Nations event! A final update to thank you for the generous donation of Ark of Taste Makah Ozette potatoes from the Seattle chapter earlier this season. We had our harvest yesterday (pictures attached) and turned the 15 lb. donation into 155 lbs. of potatoes. We’re excited to share with our chefs and feature it in dishes at our Farm Table Café. I’ll also be posting about the harvest with a shout out to Slow Food via our Facebook Group later this morning: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MonticelloFarmandGarden/

We are grateful for the support and hope all continues to go well with your respective growing seasons and summer festivities!
