Ben's Bread: Building Community Through Bread
We’re beyond thrilled to award Ben’s Bread with a 2025 Snail of Approval!
After eight years as a sourdough bread pop-up, Ben and Megan Campbell opened their brick-and-mortar bakery in Seattle’s Phinney Ridge neighborhood in 2023. With the new space came an expanded menu, featuring cookies, cakes, sweet and savory pastries, coffee and espresso, and breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
At the heart of Ben’s Bread is a deep respect for process and place. Each loaf of naturally leavened sourdough is made exclusively with locally grown grains, thoughtfully sourced from farmers and milled to preserve flavor and nutrition. The result is bread with remarkable texture and depth of flavor.
Their mission is all about supporting local, sustainable growers and purveyors. These relationships ensure high quality ingredients, transparency, a lower carbon footprint, and a stronger regional economy.
Ben and Megan have set a very high standard in workplace benefits – a health and wellness plan, livable wages, paid time off, paid volunteer hours, and public transit cards. They also give back to the community by donating to food pantries, hot meal programs, and food banks; hosting fundraisers; and giving a portion of their proceeds to local organizations and charitable causes.
Congratulations to Ben, Megan, and the whole team at Ben’s Bread on this well-deserved recognition!
