The Grange: Where Every Meal is a Gathering

We’re truly ecstatic to present The Grange with a 2025 Snail of Approval award

For Sarah Cassidy and Luke Woodward, owners of Hearth Farm and The Grange, farm-to-table is more than just a concept — they are the farm and the table!

Most of what’s served at The Grange is grown or raised on their own farm — from fresh produce to heritage pigs — with nearly everything else thoughtfully sourced from nearby farms and local producers. The menu shifts constantly to reflect the seasons and the local landscape, often featuring heirloom and Ark of Taste varieties. Surplus harvests are pickled, fermented, smoked, dried, or canned, so Sarah can bring the best of the harvest to the menu even in the colder months.

While The Grange has earned a prestigious 3-star Certified Green Restaurant award, Sarah – who calls herself “the garbage geek” – takes sustainability even further. The kitchen runs on a true zero-waste mindset: everything is composted, recycled (even tricky items like plastic wrap), fed to their pigs, or added to the restaurant’s nine worm bins (where guests’ napkins and paper towels serve as compostable liners).

Housed in a 100-year old grange hall, Luke and Sarah have honored the spirit of the space’s original purpose by opening their doors to local nonprofit fundraisers, live music, storytelling, open mics, and countless other ways for the community to come together, connect, and celebrate.

As Sarah beautifully puts it, “The community aspect is much more important than I thought it would be. We’re here so people can come, sit side by side, and enjoy one another’s presence, and enjoy really good food. How beautiful it is that the same nutrients that build our landscape are in them.”

If you haven’t yet experienced The Grange, we highly recommend you do—because it just doesn’t get much slower or more delicious than this.
