Slow Food Solstice with Hearth Farm & The Grange

Come celebrate the longest day of the year with a farm tour followed by a solstice-inspired happy hour at Hearth Farm and The Grange!

Farmer Sarah will take attendees behind the scenes to explore how The Grange’s fresh, local fare comes full circle from seed to plate at Hearth Farm. Discover the zero-waste magic of worm bins, and the many other regenerative farming techniques that make The Grange one of our 2025 Snail of Approval recipients. After the farm tour, we will toast the summer with a farm fresh cocktail and seasonal bites at The Grange, 10 minutes away from the farm.

About the Grange & Hearth Farm

For Sarah Cassidy and Luke Woodward, owners of Hearth Farm and The Grange, farm-to-table is more than just a  concept—they are the farm and the table!

Most of what’s served at The Grange is grown or raised at Hearth Farm—from fresh produce to heritage pigs—with nearly everything else thoughtfully sourced from nearby farms and local producers. The menu shifts constantly to reflect the seasons and the local landscape, often featuring heirloom and Ark of Taste varieties. Surplus harvests are pickled, fermented, smoked, dried, or canned, so Sarah can bring the best of the harvest to the menu even in the colder months.

While The Grange has earned a prestigious 3-star Certified Green Restaurant award, Sarah— who calls herself “the garbage geek”—takes sustainability even further. The kitchen runs on a true zero-waste mindset: everything is composted, recycled (even tricky items like plastic wrap), fed to their pigs, or added to the restaurant’s nine worm bins. According to Sarah and Luke, Hearth Farm is “part row crop operation, part permaculture garden, part overgrown native wilderness. It is a little edible Eden, a tapestry of plants and trees that feed birds, bees, bats, bugs, and humans too.”
